Effect on America

MRSA is becoming increasingly more common across the nation and individual communities. The number of MRSA cases now are double the amount five years ago. According to CDC figures for 2005, more people died from HAMRSA than AIDS, a surprising but true statistic. Overall, 15% of MRSA infections occur in perfectly healthy people. Also, senior citizens are four times more likely to contract the skin infection than people of all other ages. An average of 1.2 million people are infected with MRSA yearly.
