The main way to prevent getting MRSA can be summed up in two words: Good Hygiene.
In other words, to prevent the spread of MRSA, you should:
-Wash hands often
-Use hand sanitizer frequently
-Always wear clean clothes
-Wash bed sheets weekly
-Wash all cuts with soap and water regularly
-Cover all cuts with a bandage
-All in all, keep cuts Clean, Dry, and Covered - CDC
(like the Center for Disease Control, also CDC)
-Antiseptic ointments do not work against an infection,
they just help keep a wound clean
-Do not take any antibiotics without seeing a doctor.
It could just make the infection worse.
-Avoid contact with other open wounds
-With laundry, wash with hot water and dry in a dryer.
Do not air dry laundry.
-Disinfect gym or exercise equipment before use
-Any type of cleaning product containing ammonia is extremely effective in cleaning.
-A diluted bleach solution is also very effective at cleaning surfaces such as counters.
However, to ensure the surface stays clean, you must wash it with bleach often.
On washing hands-
Washing hands is by far the most effective way to prevent getting MRSA.
Some tips to remember:
-Always use warm water, as it is much more effective than cold water
-Always dry your hands, because 1,000 times as much bacteria spreads from wet hands then from dry ones
-Wash your jewelry and watches regularly
If the aren't waterproof, wipe them with a wet wipe
